2018 LPO Central Committee Elections
The good news is that the LPO is close to completing our Voter Freedom Drive, and Libertarians will have ballot access in the November elections! The bad news is that it won't be in time to have access to the primary voting system everyone is forced to pay for!
Please join us and vote in the Primary, the Libertarian way - with our private primaries!
Our Primaries are important to Libertarians to election our state Central Committee leadership but also to register with the state as Libertarian (without ballot access, we just need to avoid being registered as a Republican, Democrat or Green party member).
Instead of voting for the lesser of the Republican and Democratic Party evils, come to the Libertarian Primary instead to vote for your representative on the Libertarian Central Committee. You can, and should, vote at your regular assigned polling place to take an "issues only" ballot so you can vote on issues, taxes, etc.. Do not vote in the Republican or Democratic Party primaries!
Sometime between April 2, 2018 and May 8th, there will be Libertarian Primary Election in every one of the sixteen districts. Please join us to help select our Central Committee for 2018.
Voter Requirements. Participation in the Libertarian Primaries is open only to members of the party, and like the old parties, membership is defined by the Party selected for Primaries. Being a member of the Libertarian Party of Ohio which is based on two things;
- That they don't vote in another Party's Primary on May 8, 2018.
- They affirm the Party Pledge:
"I hereby certify that I do not believe in or advocate the initiation of force as a means of achieving political or social goals."
Candidate Biographies, if provided by the candidate, are linked below for each district.
Absentee ballots will be available to download from this page 30 days before the election. As noted below, they must be postmarked 5 days before the Election Date. Complete the Absentee Ballot for your District and complete the Absentee Ballot Application. Both must be returned to be valid. Separate before returning; the ballot may be sealed for additional privacy.
Return to Absentee Ballots to:
- The Libertarian Party of Ohio
- P.O. Box 29193
- Columbus, OH 43229-0193
All seats are up for election! If you would like to be on the Central Committee to help lead the Libertarian Party of Ohio, please submit your nomination or intent to run to the Central Committee Chair. 2018 Ballot Access Petition Turn In
In 2016 (pictured) the LPO delivering four boxes of petitions;
in 2018 we want to deliver at least 88 boxes - one for every county!
Wait till the press gets a hold of an army of us marching nearly 100 document boxes into the state to represent the stupid number of signatures required in Ohio to get on the ballot.
We will rendezvous at the LPO Headquarters where we will pack up our document boxes before we take them downtown, the day before our 2018 LPO Convention! Let's get an army of people to show up for the evening news!
Make no mistake about it, these signatures represent a hefty barrier to entry of nearly a quarter of a million dollars to be a Political Party in Ohio. Money that could be MUCH better spent dismantling our wasteful government.First things first.
Be sure that your county is represented by at least one of those boxes.
Some counties already need multiple boxes.
Can you help us raise the last 5,000 signatures - plus a bit of a cushion for a picky state? Learn all about the Voter Freedom Drive.

2018 LPO Convention
MAY 18, 19 & 20
2018 is sure to be a great year for the Libertarian Party of Ohio. With ballot access restored, we will have some great opportunities and candidates for the next election.
The tentative agenda is now available!
- -Terrific Guest Speakers (so far) include party favorites Larry Sharpe, Caryn Ann Harlos, Adam Kokesh, Joshua Smith, and Jesse Fullington.
- -Meet the Libertarian Gubernatorial Candidates and participate in the straw poll.
- -Meet the Candidates running for Chair and Vice Chair at the National Convention later in the year.
- -Consider and vote on changes to the bylaws, constitution and platform.
- -Critical Candidate and Activist Training
- -The Convention will be followed by the first organizational meeting of the new 2018 Central Committee.
We hope all liberty minded people will join us!
Candidates: If you are a Libertarian running for office in 2018, please contact us here. We want to provide you as much exposure to our activists, support structure, volunteer team and influential donors as soon as possible. Come present your case!
Delegates: If you are a Party member and would like to register as a delegate, click here. In addition to Party Officials and activists, an additional 350 members may be seated as delegates. These delegates are allocated by County based on the number of Libertarians voting in the last election. A list of the number of additional delegates for each county can be found here. If you are concerned about your County or have any questions about your qualifications, please let us know. Our intention is to seat every member in attendance!
Bylaw Changes and Constitutional Amendments: One of the most important responsibilities of delegates at Convention is to vote on any proposed changes to either the LPO Constitution and Bylaws. All recommended changes must be submitted and made available to the delegates at least 30 days before the convention. Any member of the party, with proper procedure and notification, can suggest changes for consideration. LPO's Constitution & Bylaw Review Committee will accept all suggested changes (in standard electronic format) and include them in their announcements if received by April 4, 2018. Amendments in PDF format will be accepted after April 4, 2018 through 12:01 am April 19, and will be distributed to the delegates, but will not included in the committee report. Contact us to Submit suggested Constitution and Bylaw changes.
Exhibitors and Sponsors: We encourage exhibitors and sponsors at all levels to contact us here.
The best value is the full convention, but a la carte pricing is available for the Saturday Convention, Saturday evening Banquet and the Sunday sessions separately.
For a special evening, attend the Chairman's welcoming dinner and social on Friday Night (not included) for our guests and members coming in the night before. Some exciting plans are in the works but details will be announced once we confirm our special guests.
Reserve your room: Contact the Holiday Inn Worthington for reservations at (614) 436-0700 and get the special rate for Friday and Saturday (May 18 & 19). Be sure to ask for the "LPO Convention rate" to get our special block rate of $99/night for two queen beds or one king bed and help us fulfill our minimum commitment for total rooms.
Purchase Tickets: Enter the number of tickets for the full event or any combination of the individual events below. You will be directed to the donations page where you will need to enter the total amount for all tickets being purchased. The donation page will not total the transaction for you.
